Soorya Sinha awards for local producers
Every Sri Lankan is in debt to the tune of Rs. 200,000 to other
countries due to the overdependence on foreign products said Chairman,
Soorya Sinha Foundation, Ariyaseela Wickramanayake.
He was speaking at the National Awards Festival organised by the
Soorya Sinha Foundation at the BMICH on Thursday.
"Products that carry the Soorya Sinha Logo are not only popular among
Sri Lankans but have also earned international certification for
quality," Wickramanayake said.
Sri Lankans should have confidence in products manufactured by local
entrepreneurs.
Local industrialists should be encouraged by promoting their
products.
The country will save foreign exchange by promoting local products
and not boosting the profits of multinational companies.
"The Soorya Sinha mark symbolises the uniqueness of Sri Lankan
products and the quality and capabilities of entrepreneurs.
The producer and the economy is supported when local products are
purchased", he said.
