FCCISL wins many awards
The Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL)
received the Silver award in the category of NGO/NPO in the Best Annual
Reports Competition conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants
of Sri Lanka (ICASL), proving that FCCISL is within the ambit of
Transparency, Social Accountability and good governance reflecting its
excellent performances.
Earlier, FCCISL received several awards including international
awards. Among them for the first time in Sri Lanka FCCISL won the award
for the Best Unconventional project for SMEs at the 5th World Chambers
Congress held in Turkey for the FCCISL project "Back to Business".
FCCISL was also adjudged the Best Social Marketing Project at the
Brand Excellence Awards of the Asian Brand Congress held in Mumbai for
its "Business for Peace Initiative" (BPI). Prior to receiving the award
from ICASL, it received another international award for the Best CSR
(Corporate Social Responsibility) projects again under its BPI from the
Asian CSR Forum in Singapore.
Secretary General, FCCISL Samantha Abeywickrama, said that it is the
same result of it embarking on an effort to bring in the highest
professionalism in the Sri Lankan Chamber movement and achieve higher
standards in governance and service delivery.
All these awards and achievements are to be looked at in the context
of milestones in excellence.
He said, "We are trying to push the limits and widen the wall of the
conventional understanding and concepts of Chambers of Commerce."
There are some Chambers which are concerned in making profits,
looking after their members only and not thinking of other people, the
country and the economy. But FCCISL is changing that conventional
chamber concept by pushing the limits and enlarging the chambers to gain
greater recognition by their local and international stakeholders.
