Minister stresses passing benefits to consumers

The industrial and hotel sector must provide relief to consumers when selling their day-to-day items following the Government's decision to waive the 15 per cent fuel adjustment charge on the electricity bills, Trade, Marketing Development, Cooperatives and Consumer Services Minister Bandula Gunawardene said.

Speaking to the Sunday Observer Minister Gunawardene said it was pathetic that some traders have failed to pass the benefit of recent price reduction of LP gas to consumers.

He said if traders do not make any price reduction even when the Government reduces the charges on electricity and LP gas, the only alternative is to open more and more CWE and co-operative outlets countrywide.
