Sajeeva pilots Colts to a stunning win over Bloomfield

CRICKET: Dynamic all rounder Sajeeva Weerakoon took a matchbag of 12 wickets for 70 to lead Colts CC to a sensational four wicket outright victory over Bloomfield with more than a day to spare in their SLC Premier League Tier A tournament match concluded at Havelock Park yesterday.

Bloomfield: 159 and 119 (Y. de Silva 33, D. Perera 3 for 32, S. Weerakoon 7 for 40).

Colts CC: 87 and 194 for 6 (M. Warnapura 36, J. Kulatunga 44, I. Muthalip 23, D. Perera 36, R. Silva 20, T. Perera 19, S. Dissanayake 2 for 75, S. Mohamed 3 for 73).

Moors take first innings lead

Dilhara Lokuhettige and Rangana Herath snapped up four wickets each to give Moors SC a surprise first innings lead of 101 runs over the defending champions SSC on the second day of their SLC Premier League Tier A tournament match continued at Maitland Place yesterday.

Moors SC: 227 and 174 for 5 (S. Perera 52, D. Hunukumbura 85 n.o., S. Senanayake 4 for 66).

SSC: 126 (T. Paranavithana 27, T. Samaraweera 30, D. Lokuhettige 4 for 46, R. Herath 4 for 21).

CCC heading for victory

A splendid century from Bathiya Perera (113) and a brilliant all round performance from Sachith Pathirana put CCC well on course to an outright victory over Ragama CC on the second day of their SLC Premier League Tier A tournament match continued at Maitland Crescent yesterday.

Ragama CC: 215 and 133 for 8 (I. Daniel 28, L. Thirimanna 34, I. de Saram 22, S. Pathirana 5 for 41, C. Vidanapathirana 2 for 33).

Army well placed

Sri Lanka Army SC were well placed at 143 for 2 in reply to NCC’s massive first innings total of 411 on the second day of their SLC Premier League Tier A tournament match continued at Panagoda yesterday.

NCC: 411 (S. Wijeratne 94, K. Kulasekera 66, D. Indika 40, T. Kottahewa 31, S. Prasanna 5 for 162, I. Karunaratne 2 for 32, M. de Soysa 2 for 36).

Army SC: 143 for 2 (N. Karunatilleke 69 n.o., M. de Soysa 29, S. Prasanna 26 n.o, T. Kottahewa 2 for 31).

Tamil Union on top

Half centuries from opener Sajith Fernando, Ashan Priyanjan and Jeewan Mendis put Tamil Union on course to a first innings victory over Chilaw Marians SC on the second day of their SLC Premier League Tier A tournament match continued at the P. Saravanamuttu Stadium yesterday.

Chilaw Marians SC: 366 (C. Perera 21, M. Gunatilleke 23, M. Surappulige 5 for 43, I. Udana 2 for 77).

Tamil Union: 287 for 5 (S. Fernando 78, A. Priyanjan 82, J. Mendis 59 n.o, D. Hettiarachchi 3 for 113).

Air Force in the lead

Three good knocks from S. Kandanarachchi (69), M. Warnapura (48) and C. Gamage (45) helped Sri Lanka Air Force SC to take a close first innings lead over Seeduwa Raddoluwa SC in their SLC Premier League Tier B tournament match continued at Rifle Green yesterday.

Seeduwa RSC: 224 and 158 for 5 (N. Priyantha 54, U. Karunaratne 40 n.o, A. Kumara 2 for 36).

Air Force SC: 258 (S. Kandanarachchi 69, M. Warnapura 48, A. Kumara 32, C. Gamage 45, N. Priyantha 5 for 56, R. Dhammika 3 for 53).
