The Italian Government has allocated 20,060 Euros (26,000 US Dollars), to provide, through the World Health Organisation, two Interagency Emergency Health Kits. Each IEKH consists of a supply of basic medicines for 10,000 people, for a period of three months.

The Italian Government in January, had already provided 250,000 Euros (330,000 U.S. Dollars) to the UNHCR to improve water and sanitation services in the refugee camps in Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mannar, Vavuniya, Batticaloa and Trincomalee, while, in February, another 250,000 Euros were allocated to the World Health Organisation to fund activities aimed at improving essential health services.
