Civilians could fly to Jaffna again

Extending their services further, the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) has stepped into assist civil passenger transportation between Jaffna and Colombo. On the request of the Social Services and Social Welfare Minister Douglas Devananda the SLAF have commenced transporting civil passengers in their routine flights to Jaffna from Colombo and return, during last week.

"Depending on the availability of seats, SLAF will continue to assist in civil passenger transportation since it will definitely help people making their travelling less cumbersome," Air Force spokesman Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara said.

The civilians who wish to travel to Jaffna have to forward their requests to the Social Services and Social Welfare Ministry through which the Ministry of Defence approval will be granted.
