Maj. Gen. G. A. Chandrasiri appointed CA

President Mahinda Rajapaksa, with immediate effect has appointed the Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka Army, Major Gen. G. A. Chandrasiri as the Competent Authority for Coordination, administration and implementation of all welfare and relief work in relation to displaced Wanni civilians.

"The President as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces made this appointment in order to streamline all relief services with the intense flow of trapped civilians," Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa said.

The District Secretaries of Kandy, Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura have been appointed as Coordinating Officers under the new Competent Authority.
