CMC drainage cleaning project

The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) launched a project to clean the drainage system in the F. R. Senanayake Avenue recently.

The CMC launched the project in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice.

Cleaning started last Thursday with the participation of prisoners and work will continue for a month.

The project was launched according to a concept of Chief Justice Sarath N Silva and Municipal Commissioner, Bhadrani Jayawardane. The aim of the project is to stop blocking of drains during the rainy season.

CMC and the Welikada Prison officers supervised this project.

The Chief Justice said, he has been in the public service for over 40 years. During the British rule the city roads were clean but today the problem is to maintain the existing drainage system.
