President, Institute of Certified Professional Managers, Professor
Lakshman R. Watawala, said that the inaugural journal will carry
articles written by eminent authors on the global financial crisis and
its impact on the economy and business. This, he said, would benefit
both the State planners and private sector businessmen to identify ill
effects of the financial crisis and plan strategies for their survival.
He also said that the journal covers many sectors outlining its
relevance to practical aspects of different businesses while the
author’s experiences, expertise, knowledge and innovative ideas all lend
a wealth of information to enlighten the reader on the subject of the
global financial crisis, its impact and ways of surmounting the
challenges.

The inaugural issue carries 29 articles, seven of which written by
Nivard Cabraal, Noako Iishi, Culus Astrup, Saman Kelegama, Harsha de
Silva, Mohammed Ajari and Narhari Rao, outline the global and macro
aspects of the financial crisis, its causes and impacts.

Opportunities in challenge
It was summed up that there is opportunity in the challenge,
irrespective of the fact that the crisis impacts globally and locally
and that our actions require corrections at all levels.
It was emphasised that both the State and private sector need to work
in close unison, as a group and as individual cooperates, to overcome
the crisis on a victorious note. Pooling resources maybe a good move to
begin with, notes the journal.
The inaugural issue of the CPM Journal has proved its metal and
stands a tribute to the intellectuals behind it. ICPM deserve
commendation for outputting such a valuable collection of thoughts from
industry specific expertise. |
