Wisdom chairman appointed president

Chairman of Wisdom Business Academy, Theo Soumyraj was recently
appointed as President of the CIMA Branch in New South Wales, Australia.
Soumyraj, a CIMA member for the last 10 years was nominated to the
incumbent position, which revises its office-bearer every two years.
Expressing his sentiments on his new role, Soumyraj reiterated that
he was `honoured to take up this position' and vouched to create more
value for CIMA students in New South Wales.
The new president expressed the importance of continuous professional
development, the awareness and the dire need to be proactive in dealing
with the issue of carbon footprints as well as the burning need to
inject an element of ethics into the operation of accountancy
professionals in general. Soumyraj observes that the CIMA student
population records an increase in numbers but expressed the urgency to
begin mentoring students for the forthcoming CIMA exams.
The president concluded his statement on a nostalgic note stating,
"The CIMA qualification is one that has helped me and my family
immensely - both in Sri Lanka as well as in Australia. As I take up this
office, the service that will be rendered by me will be reflective of my
way of giving back to the CIMA discipline and one that will entail more
value to each student and member."
