on the theme Prospering in a Challenging Environment through HRM, was
recently held at the Pearl Continental Hotel in Karachi.
Prominent International and National Human Resource practitioners
presented papers on different important issues pertaining to human
resource which was of great benefit for the participants.
CEO, Nutshell Forum, Mohammad Azfar Ahsan, said, “We are organising
this conference for the past five years with the aim to provide our
aspiring young individuals a platform to interact with and learn from
the experience of Human Resource experts, the strategies and methods
which can be beneficial for their professional well being.”
Brain drain
He further added that brain drain is a serious issue as large number
of trained professionals prefer to leave their country as soon as they
get the opportunity and it is the responsibility of organisations of
both the public and private sector to devise ways and means so that the
skilled worker prefer to remain in Pakistan.
President and CEO, Telenor Pakistan, Jon Eddy Abdullahin in his
keynote address said, “we, as an industry, are going through a tough
time right now.
In the times of local financial crisis, increased taxation, credit
crunch, hyper-inflation, and energy shortages, we all forget that a
knowledgeable worker will have to be treated better than an industrial
age manual labour as we need him/her in these situations more than
ever”.
“People in my world are the only sustainable advantage. We, at
Telenor Pakistan, will continue and even accelerate the way we use our
culture to magnify the brand attributes of Telenor Pakistan,” he added.
In his concluding remarks, Abdullah praised the efforts of Nutshell
Forum for organising this event in an immaculate manner in these
turbulent times. |
