Tamil political parties to meet President

Representatives of Tamil political parties including certain members from the Tamil National Alliance are due to meet President Mahinda Rajapaksa on the humanitarian aspects of the Internally Displaced Persons at the IDP Centres in Vavuniya, sources said.

The meeting is expected to take place on Tuesday and for the first time several Tamil political parties have come together to meet the President to discuss the IDP issue, sources said.

The President and officials dealing with the IDPs are likely to brief the Tamil politicians on the measures taken to look into the welfare of the IDPs, the sources said.
