Jeep is a relatively new entrant to the local market, which has done extremely well given the market conditions and high duties. Imported by DIMO, Jeep vehicles are now a frequent sight on our roads. The most sought after model in the line-up is the Jeep Grand Cherokee, easily the ‘king’ of the Jeep range. The facelifted model has done well in the local market, even with a massive 4.7 liter engine.

Now all eyes will be on the all-new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which promises to be a new experience while still retaining all Jeep characteristics.Introduced at the New York International Autoshow earlier this month, the 2011 Grand Cherokee, built on the Mercedes ML platform, features a raft of innovations for your comfort.Tharanga Gunawardena of DIMO’s Jeep division said the vehicle would prove to be popular among local Jeep lovers, especially with an all-new frugal Pentastar 3.6 liter engine.

Among the features of the 2001 Grand Cherokee are:

New Quadra Lift air suspension system provides height control and lifts vehicle up to 4.5 inches from park mode to a maximum ride height of 11.1 inches. There are five ride heights.

New Selec-Terrain system with Quadra-Trac II and Quadra-Drive II offers five terrain settings: Auto, Sand/Mud, Sport, Snow and Rock to match driving conditions. This feature electronically coordinates up to 12 different powertrain, braking and suspension systems, including throttle control, transmission shift, transfer case, Traction Control and Electronic Stability Control (ESC).

An all-new, flexible fuel 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine which features Variable-Valve Timing (VVT), 280 hp (209 kW)- an 11 percent improvement in fuel economy, 33 percent in horsepower and 11 percent in torque

Interior features include real wood and leather, heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, four-way power lumbar controls, rain-sensitive wipers, Keyless Entry/Keyless Go, ParkView rear camera and power tilt/telescoping steering column with memory

More than four inches of increased rear-seat knee and leg room (38.6 inches) compared to previous model with reclining second-row seats

More than 45 safety and security features including standard Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Electronic Roll Mitigation, Hill-Start Assist, Trailer-Sway Control and Hill-Descent Control.

Uconnect guardian standard on all models and includes: Automatic Crash Notification, Emergency Call, Roadside Assistance Call, Remote Door Unlock and Stolen Vehicle Location Assistance in selected countries

Jeep invented the premium SUV segment 18 years ago with the introduction of the Jeep Grand Cherokee. More than four million sales later, Jeep has improved the formula and hit the sweet spot of real-world capability and on-road refinement.

Want a sunroof? An all-new Command View dual-pane sun roof provides twice as much glass surface than a standard sun roof and extends from the windshield to the rear of the vehicle. Seventeen-inch wheels are standard and deliver off-road capability, with optional 18-inch and all-new to Jeep, 20-inch wheels for 2011.
