Quarter-finalists found in Peace Dream Cup

Quarter finalists were found on the second day of the Peace Dream Cup
All-Island School Football Tournament at the McHeyzer stadium here in
Trincomalee yesterday.
Five schools from Colombo made their way to the quarter-finals which
are scheduled for this morning.
The highlight of Saturday's games was Thurstan's superb win over St.
Joseph's. Thurstan scored the winning goal through a penalty against St.
Joseph's College, Anuradhapura. Meanwhile both teams from Hameed Al
Husseini College, Colombo made their way to the quarterfinals.
The other teams to enter today's 'quarters' were St. Xavier's
College, Mannar, Kinniya Central College, Trincomalee and Al Hilal MV,
Negombo.
On day two, a total of fifteen matches were played in four groups on
a league basis. The two top teams from each group qualified for the
quarters.
Semi-finals and the final is scheduled to be played in the evening.
The tournament is organised by the Universal Peace Foundation with the
assistance of the Sri Lanka Schools Football Association. All matches
were controlled by referees from Trincomalee Referees as with two senior
referees assisting them.
Results:
Hameed Al Hasseini drew with St. Xavier's, Mannar 0-0 St. Benedict's,
Colombo beat Kinniya Central 3-1. Al Hilal MV Negombo beat St.
Benedict's (White) 2-1 Isipatana beat Rahula Matara 2-1.
Hameed Al Hasseini beat Thurstan 2-0, St. Benedict's drew with St.
Thomas, Matara 0-0. Hameed Al Hasseini beat St. Sylvester's Kandy 4-0,
Hameed Al Hasseini (Maroon) beat St. Joseph's A'pura 2-1, St. Benedict's
(Green) drew with Rahula, Matara 0-0. Al Hilal, Negombo beat Isipatana
1-0 St. Xavier's, Mannar beat St. Sylvester's, Kandy 6-0 Thurstan,
Colombo beat St. Joseph's A'pura 1-0. Kinniya Central beat St. Thomas',
Matara 2-0, Isipatana beat St. Benedict's 1-0, Al Hilal beat Rahula
Matara 1-0.
