'Gotta' gets gold

Head of Heladiv, Rohan Fernando celebrates the success

At the recently concluded Chillies 2009, HELADIV, a leading tea manufacturer in the country was awarded a GOLD metal in the Non-Traditional Media category for their creative and innovative tea packaging design that takes the shape of a "Gotta". The entry caught the eye of the jury due to the fact that a very simple retail insight created inspiration to the entire design.

"It seemed like such an obvious thing to do since most small retailers use the "gotta" to package small quantities of dry rations - especially tea," stated Sarva Amarasekera, COO of Triad, the agency behind the innovation. This packaging however has the additional dimensions of using recycled bulk tea packing as the primary material and the shape has proven to be a revolution in convenience due to its consumer friendliness and its ability to be stored in a ying-and-yang manner both in the shop and at home.

"We are extremely proud to have won gold for this effort which we think truly deserved the recognition that it received. We are also hopeful that this entry will do well on the international ad award circuit in bringing fame to Triad and Sri Lanka," concluded Sarva.
