The spacious luxury houses overlooking the paddy fields and mountains
with `manicured' lawns is an ideal holiday destination in a tranquil
environment.
Within a two-hour drive from Colombo one could have a chilling
experience in the ambience of a calm and serene setting as a break
journey point to the historical cities in the country.
Chief Operating Officer, Thirasara Leisure Village, Lalith
Samarawickrama said the primary objective of the project is to promote
economical, social and environmental sustainability while catering to
the domestic tourism sector in the country. "Reducing the carbon
foot-print and minimising the impact of global climate change through an
environment friendly sustainable initiative has been the hallmark of MAS
Holdings which launched the first eco-friendly apparel park in Asia", he
said.
Project Coordinator, Thirasara Leisure Village,Michael Jayawardana
said the Thirsara housing project was launched aligning itself to the UN
global environmental standards.
Natural environment
The chalets have been refurbished to provide a natural environment
for visitors who could spend their holiday by mountain hiking, cycling,
taking a bath at the Ma Oya river, abseiling, kayaking and nature
leisure walks around the park.
Targeting the mid and high income earners of the domestic tourism
sector the Village offers fully furnished Dulux, Super Dulux and Luxury
houses with modern household requirements for travellers seeking
relaxation and wanting to revel in the tranquillity of nature. CEO,
Thirasara Leisure Village, Chandan De Silva said the Village is in a
logistically convenient location for a cost saving short holiday away
from the hustle and bustle of city life. The country's tourism industry
is facing a major setback due to security concerns and global travel
restrictions caused by the recession. Sri Lanka's tourism was recently
rebranded to launch an aggressive promotional campaign among key markets
across the globe. LF
