Dengue eradication program

The Public Health Department of the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) will launch a program to eradicate dengue in the CMC area at 9 a.m. today at the CMC premises.

The program will be implemented under the supervision of Chief Medical officer of Health Dr. Pradeep Kariyawasam.

CMC members, members of the Sri Lanka Nurses Union, Police personnel and members of Voluntary organisations will assist in identifying breeding places of mosquitoes which cause dengue and inform the public the steps that need to be taken to eradicate the menace.This program will continue for two weeks.

President of the Sri Lanka Nurses Union, Ven. Muruthettuwe Ananda Thera, Western Province Governor Alavi Moulana, Chief Minister Western Province Prasanna Ranatunge, CMC special Commissioner Badrani Jayawardane, and CMOH Dr. Pradeep Kariyawasam were present.
