The notable and witty Indu Dharmasena is all set to rock the Wendt
with another satirical feature called ‘For Better or For Worse’. With
the recent production ‘Mr. Jekyll and Miss Hyde’ giving theatre-goers
plenty of laughs, the new production will see actress, Sachini Ayendra
making her stage debut as ‘Sarala’ in this Indu production.
The script revolves around a Pradeep who is a money-minded shrewd
businessman, who makes a living out of writing and designing clothes. He
and Mukesh are good friends which signifies the title of ‘A friend in
need is a friend indeed’. One day, Pradeep seeks Mukesh’s help to buy
some time as he is quite uncertain of his fiancee. Sonara is the girl he
really wants to marry.
Before the two friends scheme on an action plan, the doorbell rings
and Pradeep is forced to make a quick exit. The visitor is Pradeep’s
aunt Wilma and her daughter Sarala who have come to see him out of the
blue. Aunty Wilma tells Mukesh that she isn’t in favour of Pradeep
marrying Sonara. Her real motive is that she wants Pradeep to marry
Sarala to continue her cushy lifestyle as she had lost all her money by
investing it in a big finance company that has just crashed.
To save his friend from this predicament, Mukesh decides to tell a
lie by saying that Pradeep has also done the same blunder and that he is
financially helpless too. However, the tables turn and an anonymous call
brings Sonara’s brother Ramesh into the picture.
One lie leads to another and the plot thickens, when a devastated
Pradeep comes with the news that Sonara is missing. The fun really
begins when Sonara enters demanding to know the truth.To find out the

The writer cum dress designer Mukesh is played by Indu Dharmasena,
while the gossipy and forceful Aunty Wilma is played by Sanwada
Dharmasena.
Sachini Ayendra makes her stage debut playing Sarala and rest of the
talented characters are brought to life by Sulochana Perera, Abbasali
Rozais, and Danu Innasithambi. |
