Munchee Trophy goes to Royal

Inter Schools T/20 Championship:

CRICKET: Royal College lifted the Munchee inter school under 19 Twenty20 title while overcoming their arch rivals Ananda College by eight wickets in the final worked off at the De Soysa Stadium in Moratuwa yesterday.

Royal put up a tremendous performance on the field to restrict the powerful Ananda batting for just 91 runs from their 20 overs. Randewela and Abeykoon were the chief wreckers with three wickets each.

Royal then went about their task in style while reaching their target with six overs to spare. Sahan Hettiarachchi led the run chase a sparkling 41 while Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Kusal Janith Perera added the finishing touches.

Ananda: 91 in 20 overs (L. Pasindu 15, L. Randewela 3 for 17, Y. Abeykoon 3 for 20).

Royal: 95 for 2 in 14 overs (S. Hettiarachchi 41, B. Rajapaksa 29, K. Perera 19 n.o.).
