Heshan sets new mark

Swimming : National swimming captain Heshan Unamboowe of Trinity College, K. Imesh Chathuranga of D. S. Senanayake College, and Machiko Raheem of Otter Aquatic Club set new records at the Pentathlon Swimming Championships conducted by the Interin Committee of Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union held at the Sugathadasa Stadium pool yesterday.

Heshan who won the Penththlon championship for the tenth time accounted for boys under-19 100 metres back stroke returning a time of 1.01.18 secs.

Chathuranga was responsible for the boys under 12,50 metres back stroke with a time of 36.19 secs. while Machiko established the record in the girls under-14 - 100 metres free style 'clocking' 1.04.82 secs. (L.F).
