SSP Roshan Fernando - new Medical Services chief
Senior Superintendent of Police Roshan Fernando has been transferred
to Colombo as the Director of Medical Services of the Sri Lanka Police.
SSP Roshan Fernando was in active service in Jaffna at the height of
government's efforts in eradicating terrorism from the country in the
recent past.
SSP Fernando was in charge of nine police stations in the peninsula
and the islands including Kayts and Delft.
He successfully secured the area by eliminating the LTTE threats on
civil society.
After his primary and secondary education at Royal College, Colombo,
Fernando joined the Special Task Force of Sri Lanka Police as a Sub
Inspector in 1982.
As a pioneer member of the STF, Fernando received special training
under British instructors in 1984 and after five years of service he was
inducted into the Sri Lanka Police service.
Since then SSP Fernando served in many parts of the country as an
Officer-In-Charge of various Police stations, Assistant Superintendent
of Police in charge of a few districts. His longest stint was as the SSP
in charge of Chilaw and Puttalam divisions.
