Tamil Union gain first innings points

CRICKET: Pacemen Suranga Lakmal and skipper Madawa Perera snapped up five wickets each as Tamil Union skittle out their opponents BRC for a paltry 105 runs in their first innings on the opening day of their rain hit SLC under-23 division one cricket tournament match which commenced at the P. Saravanamuttu Oval yesterday.

BRC: 105 (S. Devindra 24, M. Perera 5 for 23, S. Lakmal 5 for 39)

Tamil Union: 116 for 7 (A. Priyanjan 39, G. Weerasekera 23, A. Solomons 2 for 27, R. Perera 2 for 35).


Pushpakumara 7/8

Spinner Malinga Pushpakumara returned outstanding figures of eight wickets for 85 as Chilaw Marians SC dismissed Seeduwa Raddoluwa CC for 214 runs in their first innings on the opening day of their rain hit SLC under 23 division one cricket tournament match which commenced at the BRC ground in Havelock Park yesterday.


Seeduwa Raddoluwa CC: 214 (S. Perera 37, I. Massalage 33, S. Ratnayake 30 n.o., C. Gayan 25, M. Pushpakumara 7 for 85).

Chilaw Marians SC: 25 for 1.


Kandy YCC well placed

Opener Danusha Mitipolarachchi hit a fighting 93 not out to help Kandy YCC reach a healthy 222 for 3 in their first innings on the opening day of their rain hit SLC under 23 division one cricket tournament match against SSC which commenced at Maitland Place yesterday.


Kandy YCC: 222 for 3 (K. Ranjith 43, M. Weerasinghe 37, D. Mitipolarachchi 93 n.o., K. Ekanayake 23 n.o, S. Fernando 2 for 72) v SSC.


NCC struggle at 32/6

NCC were struggling at 32 for 6 in reply to Kurunegala YCC's first innings total of 164 runs on the opening day of their rain hit SLC under 23 division one cricket tournament match which commenced at Maitland Place yesterday.


Kurunegala YCC: 164 (T. Perera 76 n.o., T. Herath 23, U. Bandara 23, D. Dahanayake 3 for 15, R. Laksiri 3 for 42).


NCC: 32 for 6 (C. Pathirana 3 for 13, U. Bandara 2 for 20).


Semis postponed

The Under-23 Division II Cricket semi-final between Navy SC and Kalutara TC that was to be played at the Colts CC grounds was postponed indefinitely.

The new dates will be notified later.
