Army, Negombo Youth lose opening games

Sri Lanka Army, the holders of the Premier League title went down to the unfancied Don Bosco Sports Club, Negombo two goals to one yesterday at Negombo. At half-time the scores were level at one all.

Army entered the fray as firm favourites, but could not hold onto their status in the opening game of the Dialog Champions League.

In another game also in Negombo, Negombo's Star studded team Negombo Youth went down to New Youngs SC from Wennappuwa one goal to nil at half-time it was a blank score sheet.

Now with all three top ranked teams played one match each have failed to live upto expectations. New Youngs SC is almost a new line up with around seven players being juniors, but with two Nigerians doing services these youngsters will sure to pose a big threat to other teams in the future games.
