Exhibition of paintings

Vasnatha Namaskarage will hold an exhibition of his paintings at 45/7Walgedara Badulla on October 3 from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.


Perception art exhibition

Vasantha Namaskarage will hold his 56th solo exhibition of paintings entitled ' Perception Art' at Open Art Gallery, Bandarawela, Etampitiya fromOctober 4-31.


SOSL Premieres Concert with Japanese guest conductor

Lovers of classical music will have another chance of enjoying an evening of enchanting music when the Symphony Orchestra of Sri Lanka present their Premieres Concert on October 9, 7.30 p.m. at Ladies College Hall. The guest soloist will be Atsushi Kimura (French Horn) and the guest conductor Keiko Kobayashi. The Symphony, Orchestra's programme for the evening will include Mozart's Horn Concerto No. 3, The Symphony No. 3 (Rhenish) by Schuman, the Ruy Blas Overture by Mendelssohn and Richard Strauss' Weiner Fanfare.

Tokyo born conductor Keiko Kobayashi is no stranger to our concert stages. She was in Sri Lanka for an earlier successful Premieres Concert by the Symphony Orchestra with the guest soloists Mayumi Mori a renowned Japanese harpist and flautist Kimihiko Akiyama. Keiko graduated from the Music Department of the Faculty of Education at the University of Yamanashi and obtained her Master course in conducting at the Senzoku Gakuen College of Music in Tokyo. She has studied conducting under the world famous Seiji Ozawa and other renowned Japanese conductors.

Since her debut she has conducted the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra, the Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra and the Siena Wind Orchestra to name a few.


Oushada Bavithayata Athwalak

Oushada Bavithayata Athwalak (Handbook on the use of drugs) by Consultant Physician and Senior Lecturer of Faculty of Medicine of the University of Colombo Dr.Chamari Weeraratne will be launched at BMICH Banquet Hall at 3.00 p.m. on September 30 with Minister of Health Nimal Siripala de Silva as the chief guest. The keynote address will be delivered by Prof Nimal Senanayake.
