Four injured in stray landmine explosion

Four civilians were critically injured in a stray landmine explosion in Mulli, a coastal area in Jaffna on Friday around 7.50 p.m. military sources said.

Informed sources said the civilians had been collecting sea sand when the explosion occurred.

The four injured persons have been identified as Thavarasa Dinesh, V. Illanthirayan, S. Surendran and George Woorou. Those injured were rushed to the Jaffna hospital. The sources said that the injuries were severe, but the victims were out of danger.The police and the Security Forces in Jaffna are carrying out investigations on the incident, the sources said.
