Record UPFA victory predicted- Minister Gajadeera

The present government has launched an unprecedented and massive development drive in the country at the moment, Minister of Home Affairs Chandrasiri Gajadeera said.

He was speaking at a well attended UPFA propaganda rally held at Mapalana, Kamburupitiya.

The experienced leadership and internationally recognised statesmanship of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and also the great commitment and dedication on the part of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and all security forces personnel led to total annihilation of the scourge of Tiger terrorism from our motherland. Even the staunch UNP and JVP supporters are joining the UPFA expressing their solidarit y with the President and his administration. A record victory for the United People's Freedom Alliance at the upcoming Southern Provincial Council polls has been a reality even at the present moment, he predicted.

In the rural infrastructural development activities, views and needs of the people have been taken into account by the government. Tangible benefits of vast socio-economic development activities launched by this regime will be able to be enjoyed by the people very soon, Minister of Home Affairs Chandrasiri Gajadeera said.

Southern Provincial Council member Bindu Weerasinha addressing the meeting said as a former SPC member he worked for the people irrespective of their political shades and other differences. Priority was paid for rural infrastructural development in the Matara district.

The Jana Sabha Secretariat presently under construction here will house the Samurdhi Development office, Agricultural Research and Development office, grama Niladari's office and also the Family Health Officer's office. Therefore, the residents will be able to obtain all these services under one roof, he said.

He expressed his satisfaction for the support extended by the voters in the district of Matara.
