True love
by Harshani Nandarathna
Love is probably the most talked
about topic in the world. Unlike starvation, poverty or global warming
about love almost everyone has something to say.
Once I read somewhere if, there is one thing in the world that simply
anyone can relate to, it is love. Our ultimate search is what’s life
without love one might say. When talking about love we cannot ignore the
most talked aspect of love, that everyone is looking for love but only a
few can truly find it.
Have you ever asked yourself why? I mean, if it’s love what all
humans seek, then the probability of two hearts finding each other
should be high shouldn’t it? Do the math yourself. So why is it so hard
to find it?
Maybe it’s because we have exaggerated so much that the true meaning
of love is lost somewhere between the lines. I mean why everyone think
of their lover at the sight of the words “true love”.
Where does it say true love can only be found in the eyes of your
lover? It is more like we are programmed to believe that true love
exists when you find that one person who will sweep you off your feet,
makes you do the impossible, the one who makes you laugh so loud and
make your life so beautiful.
The one who holds that missing piece to your life, he/she who
completes you. No wonder true love is so rare. We are waiting for some
magical human been custom made just to make our lives a fairytale.
I found true love, but it’s nothing like what I was told. God! It is
so plain and simple. She waits so patiently, never expect too much from
me, but very grateful for the little I do for her. Never ask me why I do
the things I do, but somehow seem to understand me.
She never did all those magical things for me but it’s how she would
look for me and only for me in a room full of people that makes me feel
as if she holds that missing piece of my life. How she gets excited just
hearing my footsteps, most of all how she never fails to bring a smile
to my face doing absolutely nothing special. As I write this, just a few
feet away from me there lies my true love. My puppy, my Rogue, she who
completes me.
Stop looking for that mythical creature meant for you and only for
you. True love need not be so complicated. Open your heart and embrace
the world with arms wide open. Your true love exists when you find that
special one, the sister who stands by you in good times and the bad, the
friend who will never let you down.
The mother who has dedicated her whole life for you. And for some
very few fortunate people, you find it looking right back at you in the
mirror. |
