Special loan schemes for resettled people

The Government with the objective of uplifting the living standards
of the people who have been resettled in the North has introduced a
special relief loan scheme, said Governor of the Northern Province Maj.
Gen. G. A. Chandrasiri.
He said that up to now Rs. 7.5 million has been granted among the
resettled people in the Jaffna district under this program.
Funds of the Northern Provincial Council are being utilised for the
granting of loans.
Accordingly, 150 people who were resettled in the Jaffna district
recently had been granted loans amounting to Rs. 50,000 each at a
ceremony held under the patronage of Social Services and Social Welfare
Minister Douglas Devananda and Governor Chandrasiri in Achchuweli
recently.
Meanwhile, over 60 families who were resettled recently in the
Kilinochchi district had been granted livelihood relief loans, he added.
