Forces focus on Northern rehabilitation

The Jaffna Security Forces Commander, Major General L. B. R. Mark has reiterated that the Security Forces in the North would do their best to maintain the peaceful atmosphere that prevails in the region now.

Maj. Gen. Mark, in his New Year message in Jaffna, expressed his gratitude to the Northern civilians for their role in supporting the Security Forces, when the fight against terrorism was being carried out in the North last year.

“I pray that 2010 brings prosperity to the people in the North and that the New Year should also stabilise the victory that was gained against terrorism last year. The year 2010 has dawned with many hopes and expectations.

The Security Forces in Jaffna will focus more on enhancing the living conditions of the people of Jaffna.

The Security Forces in Jaffna will put more effort for the rehabilitation and development activities in the North.

Therefore, to make the day-to-day living of the people in the North more meaningful, a decision has been taken to lift the curfew in Jaffna completely”, Maj. Gen. Mark said.
