N'Eliya Golf Club on strike

GOLF: The entire stewards and the ground staff of the 122 year old Nuwara Eliya Golf Club are on strike since December 31, over the dispute of their bonus.

The President of the Club Umesh de Silva was in Nuwara Eliya and had a long discussion with the employees without a settlement and the strike continues.

Meanwhile, the Labour Department has fixed a date January 4, at 2 p.m. to discuss the dispute.

Large number of golfers who were in Nuwara Eliya over the weekend were disappointed because of the lockout by he employees.
