NSB opens 169th branch
Gayan KANCHANA in Jaffna
The National Savings Bank (NSB) a licensed specialised Bank, opened
its 169th branch at Karainagar in Jaffna last week.
NSB Chairman Pradeep Kariyawasam said, to day is a milestone in NSB's
history. Within a few days this branch can collect 10 to 13 million
rupees as savings. Through this branch we expect to implement many loan
schemes for industries such as fisheries, agriculture and toddy tapping.
The bank will celebrate its 40th anniversary, shortly.
NSB is still a sleeping giant and to awaken this giant we will
implement a corporate advertising campaign.
The bank's ultimate goal is to be the best performing and profitable
bank in the country.
NSB is the only local bank to receive AAA fitch ratings for 7
consecutive years. It's assets base is the third largest in the country,
he said.
Speaking to the Sunday Observer NSB Karainagar Branch Manager
Apputhurai Kengatharan said that the bank opened two school savings
branch units at Dr. Thagaraja Madhya Maha Vidyalaya and Yaltan College
in Karainagar.
