Sri Lanka goes for Japanese investments
The Government is set to attract more investment
from Japan. Last week when President Mahinda Rajapaksa met Corporate
President of the Noritake Group of Companies, Hitoshi Tanemura in
Colombo, he called upon Noritake to invest in the Hambantota Free
Trade Zone.

RDB to spearhead regional growth
The Regional Development Bank (RDB), should be
located in the region and not in Colombo as a Wall Street bank, said
Secretary to the Ministry of Finance, Dr. P.B. Jayasundara
addressing a ceremony to launch the RDB in Colombo on Friday.

Indian currency symbol established
The Indian rupee has joined the exclusive club
of four global currencies, by getting its own symbol on Thursday.
However, this is unlikely to change the way one deals with the
currency or the way one refers to it in speech, though it would
bring in a change in the way it is put in writing.
