Q. What can you say about your achievement as the Most Popular School Boy Cricketer of the Year - All Island? How do you feel about the win?

A. I am very happy and proud to say that as a Royalist I have been awarded the Best Batsman and the Most Popular School Boy Cricketer of the Year - All Island. Both these awards are great achievements in my cricket career.

Q. What is your experience as a budding cricketer and how do you feel that Sri Lanka Cricket can be better?

A. I strongly feel discipline, dedication and determination are the most important factors through my experience as a budding cricketer, not only for cricketers but as well as for non-sports personalities. My personal opinion is I feel that Sri Lanka cricket opened the avenues for budding cricketers to achieve their goals and expectations especially in international cricket experience.

Q. What is your experience as a budding cricketer and how do you feel that Sri Lanka Cricket can be better?

A. My main target is as the vice captain to win the forthcoming series against England for which I will try to give my 100 percent effort with the bat.

Q. Explain the pros and cons of being a young cricketer in a very competitive environment. What is the secret of your success?

A. In a very competitive environment the Under 19 Cricket is extremely high. I have to reiterate that discipline, dedication, determination, hard work and the support from my parents and the guidance of all my coaches, friends and relations are always encouraging.

Q. As a budding cricketer yourself, what advice would you give youngsters in the game. What is important to achieve?

A. My advice is as an Under 19 Cricketer to be a self motivated person and give 100 percent contribution to achieve the goals.

Q. Why are sponsors and philanthropists important in helping budding cricketers shine?

A. I must especially thank the Cricket Manager Ravi De Silva, former Josephian Cricketer who arranged the sponsorship with the Gray-nicolls Company U.K. and for providing me with all the cricket equipment.

Furthermore, I take this opportunity to specially thank the Sunday Observer and Mobitel who organized this mega event for the young cricketers to shine their future careers. Also, I must thank all the journalists who encouraged me and commendations by them after my match performance.

Most of all, I thank the coaches Aravinda De Silva, Navad Nawas, Upul Chandana and my school coaches Gamini Perera, N. Devarajan, U.S.A. Perera, all my team mates, parents, relations and friends for the support and guidance given to me.
