Oh! it was a dream!

Along a lonely path
I was walking alone
Heard someone calling
And was astonished to see

Mum was raising her arms
Wanting to take me to her
In a split second, I was
Surrounded by her arms!

The happiness I felt
The warmth I got
Went through the veins
And made me strong

Yes, I heard her heartbeat
Of course she was alive
She was not cold but warm
As she ever was

I still blame myself
For opening my eyes
Because seeing her even in dreams
Makes me think she's still alive!

- Hansika Gopallawa

To blossoms

How lovely you look
When blooming in dawn
Shaking the morning dew
That shine like mirrors
As fairies have to hurry up
Before they vanish

Your sweet smell a mile
Making the bees go nuts
Who comes roaming about
To fulfil their morning duty

In the day you dance
In the cold breeze
That cheers up the cuckoo birds
As to join the ball dance you make

As dark clouds hurry up
You stop and rest
For a long time
As our life pops up like a bubble

- Nadeesha Nirmani Weerasooriya

It's so interesting...

The morning dawned
With the soft rays of the sun
You came out in light
And stayed close behind

The sun went up in the sky
Shining so brightly
And the noon arrived
You came over me

Next in the evening
The sun began to vanish
You passed me and came in front
But I didn't know why

When the dark night arrived
I was afraid
And I tried to find you
But you were not there with me

I learnt a good lesson from you
That no one will teach
And now I am going to say
That nice lesson in brief

Don't trust your 'shadow'
Which comes in light and
Leaves you in darkness!

Aruni Bandara

They never enjoy

They move from one place to another
New shops, under bus halts anywhere no bother
But being chased away for no reason they gather
They seek another home before darkness scatters
They always in hunger, and they search the refuse bins
They see the steaming dishes in the boutiques within
A piece of cloth, a tattered rug, anything
Just to cover their bodies would make everything
They see a wall built all around
Where comforts and beauties are hidden behind
Yet luxuries they never seek on this ground
It's the thing called 'light'
They are anxious to find!

Swarnamali Rajaguru

Rainbow

Mingled with sunshine and raindrops
Not seen in the rain only
Not seen in the sunshine only
But...
Can be seen where both
Sunshine and rain drops present
In life
to get through the success
There should be both good and bad
No one is perfect
Balance them both
life will be a rainbow...
