Japanese schols for public sector
The Japanese Government has extended its Grant Aid for Human Resource
Development Scholarship (JDS) program to Sri Lanka from this year.
The JDS program selects young and potential public sector employees
to pursue the two-year masters degrees in Japan. Up to 15 such
scholarships are awarded per year and the target areas of study are
Public Policy and Public Finance, Public Administration, Macro Economics
and Development Economics, and Regional Development and Poverty
Alleviation.
The International University of Japan, International Christian
University and Hiroshima University will offer the courses under the
program implemented with the vision to Human Resources in Sri Lanka's
Public Sector.
The program will be executed through the Japan International
Cooperation Agency (JICA) and implemented by the Japan International
Cooperation Centre (JICE). The JDS program has been implemented in 12
countries by JICE since 1999.
The first batch of students will leave for Japan next month and the
selection procedure for the next batch will commence within a few
months.
