CR & FC beat CH & FC by 32 points (1 goal, 5 tries) to 13 (1 goal, 2
penalties) to enter the semi- final of the Clifford Cup in a quarter
final match marred by fisticuffs and flaring tempers during the latter
part of the match at the Royal College Sports Complex yesterday.
CR & FC led 5-3 at the breather and had to expend all their resources
to produce a productive second half collecting 27 points. For the
winners Vishwamithra Jayasinghe (3), Dinusha Chaturanga, Nigel Ratwatte
and Srinath Sooriyabadara scored a try each while Reza Mubarak put over
the conversions and Nigel Ratwatte fired over the penalties. For CH & FC
Dinesh Sanjeeva scored the solitary try and Indrajith Wickremanayake
made no mistake with the penalties. -RA
