Triumphant chess tour... The Kalutara Balika Vidyalaya under 16
and under 14 were able to come on top of the IWICA International
Chess Tournament in Bangkok. The team (back row - standing from
left): Ranmali Gunesekera, Dharshani Amarasena, Nadiska de Zoysa,
Dhananji Perera, Chamodi Adikaram, Dilini de Silva, Kalpani
Sigera, Wangis Wasali, Bhaggiya Madusani Palihakkara, Uthpala
Herath, Amodini Pathirage and Thasini Madurika Walakuluge.

CHESS: Balika Vidyalaya, Kalutara has something to be proud about.
Two of their chess teams - won the tournaments of the IWICA
International Tournaments held in Bangkok recently.
The under 16 team's Dilki Wijekoon had the best performance while
Saduni Thathsarani Panditharatne also stood out among the other 14 teams
that participated.
The under 16 runners-up are:Nishadini de Soysa, Kavidiya Pathirage,
Bhaggiya Palihakkara and K. Wanigisa Wasali. The under 14 team
runners-up are: Nadisha de Soysa, A Kalpani, Madusika Sigera, Chamodi
Jayantha Adikaram, Isuru Dharshani Amarasena and Thapini Dhanushika
Walakuluge also fared prominently. |
