Sachitra of Ananda and Dishan of Royal, Panadura - early leaders
OBSERVER-MOBITEL AWARDS: Ananda College leg spinner Sachitra
Perera took top billing in the Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer 2011 All
Island category, while Dishan Vimukthi of Royal College, Panadura took
the lead in the Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer 2011 in the Outstation
category at the end of count number 1 in the Observer/Mobitel Schoolboy
Cricketer of The Year competition.
The Ananda College prolific wicket-taker was discarded from the Sri
Lanka Schools Under 19 squad to meet the visiting England Under 19 team
presently engaged in a series of matches in the Island. Josephian
captain Chaturanga Kumara who is placed second in the competition missed
last year's tour of England by a whisker, has rightly found his place in
the present Sri Lanka Under 19 team to meet their counterparts from
England.
Royal's Bhanuka Rajapakse who was judged the Observer/Mobitel
Schoolboy Cricketer of The Year 2010 is captaining the Sri Lanka Under
19 national team by virtue of his excellent performances at school and
International level, and he too, looks a strong contender for the title
this year too. |
