Mazenodians win on first innings

De Mazenod College Kandana led by three runs on first innings in their inter-school under-19 drawn match against Moratu Vidyalaya.

Continuing from 171 for 8 on day two Vidyalians could add only five runs to their overnight total. Former Skipper Kalhara Peiris was the top scorer with 76 runs. Chamil Perera bagged 6 for 48 for Mazedonians, De Mazenod started badly and at one stage they were reeling at 60 for 6 and a stubborn seventh wicket partnership of 90 runs between Chamil Perera 54 and Shehan Anurudhaka enabled them to passed the opponents score. Sanka Ramesh returned fine figures with 7 for 61. When the stumps were drawn Vidyalians were 120 for 4.

Moratu Vidyalaya: Overnight 171/8 all out 176 (Kalhara Peiris 76, Jaindu Mudalige 43, Chamil Perera 6/48) and 120/4 (Sujeewa Liyanage 30, Ishan Nilaksha 28, Sanka Ramesh 20 n/o, Kalhara Peiris 20 n/o, Shaluka Silva 2/31).

De Mezenod: 179 (Chamil Perera 54, Shehan Anurudhaka 50, Sasaka Kodithuwakku 30, Sanka Ramesh 7/61).
