Job fair, expo in Hambantota on April 28
A job fair and higher education exhibition will be held at the
Hambantota Singapore Conference Hall on April 28.
It is organised by the Hambantota District Chamber of Commerce (HDCC)
and WORLD VISION Lunugamvehera Regional Development Program and
Hambantota District Secretariat.
More than 30 private companies who are seeking to employ staff and
professional organizations who provide career skills and self employment
will be participating at the event such as Sonak Lanka, David Peiries,
LOLC, John Keells, Ceylinco Cisco. Training providers such as Technical
College, Vocational Training Authority NAITA, AAT, CIMA, Orient Academy,
ICBT, MAL will participate in this event.
During the event group career counselling programs will be conducted.
The University of Ruhuna will conduct a special seminar on
self-employment opportunities. Self-employment service providers in the
district will organise a Self Employment Piyasa at the Job fair. The
Keynote speech will be delivered by Mohan Palliyaguru, well-known
consultant and trainer.
More than 2,000 job seekers will be given an opportunity to meet
company representatives and professionals.
This will be a new experience for the youth of the area.
HDCC is the representative of the private sector in the Hambantota
district and its mission is to act as the 'gateway' for development,
ensuring the social cohesion and economic success of the Hambantota
District.
As a social responsibility, and a contribution to the economic
development of the District, HDCC manages the Career Service Centre (CSC)
and the Youth Business Sri Lanka Program (YBSL) which provide services
and benefits to young people in the Hambantota district.
The key functions of CSC are to monitor employment opportunities, to
match young job seekers, and to arrange the provision of appropriate
training courses and encourage vocational training.
YBSL aims at helping young people who otherwise would not have the
opportunity to develop their self-confidence and achieve economic
independence through the medium of self-employment. |
