Woman in custody over superintendent’s death

A woman has been taken into custody by the Negombo police in
connection with the death of the Superintendent of the Gonahena Pathagam
estate whose body was found lying on a gravel road at Ranmavi Mawatha,
Negombo, Police Media Spokesman, Superintendent of Police, Prishantha
Jayakody told the Sunday Observer.
The deceased was identified as Samaratunga Mudiyanselage Wijeratne
Banda, a resident of Walpola, Ragala. The deceased superintendent had
visited the home of the woman in the same estate around 9.pm. on April
21 and had drinks with her. A few minutes later he had become
unconscious.
Realising the man was unconscious, the woman had dragged him out of
the house around 12 am and placed it on the road. “Although no injuries
were visible on the body, the man had bled from his nose and mouth. The
body is now lying at the Negombo hospital mortuary. An autopsy will be
performed to determine the cause of death,” police said. The Negombo
police is investigating the death. |
