Darusman Report, attempt to destabilise country - OPA

The Organisation of Professional Associations of Sri Lanka (OPA) has called the professional community as well as all Sri Lankans and political party leaders to support the Government to thwart attempts by groups with vested interests to destabilise unity and peace among the people.

A statement issued by the President OPA, Uditha H. Palihakkara stated that the conclusions of the Report of the Advisory Panel for the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon are unsubstantiated, flawed, presumptuous, irrational and prejudiced.

The report has exceeded whatever mandate purported to have been given by the Secretary General, he has stated.

The statement also stated that the conclusions in the report are an attempt to undermine the humanitarian efforts by the Government to bring about reconciliation among communities and to develop the areas that were forcibly occupied by the LTTE. It further stated that the Report has encroached on the sovereignty of Sri Lanka by advocating various Constitutional changes.
