The elegy and its many faces

Last week I discussed the concept of elegy as it manifested itself in two classical Indian texts.- the Mahabharata and the Purananuru. Today I wish to discuss one of my favorite Sanskrit poems, The Meghaduta, (The Cloud Messenger) in terms of its elegiac propensities.
