Kanishka 5/34

CRICKET: Seamer Kanishka Elwitigala captured five wickets for 34 to give Colts CC a good first innings lead over Baduraliya CC on the second day of their SLC Premier League Tier 'A' cricket tournament match which continued at Havelock Park yesterday.

Colts CC: 200 and 200 for 7 (M. Warnapura 44, J. Kulatunga 21, R. Silva 65 n.o, S. Weerakoon 33, A. Prasad 2 for 81, T. Sampath 3 for 40).

Baduraliya CC: 132 (T. Attanayake 23, S. Wijeratne 36 n.o, Kanishka Elwitigala 5 for 34, S. Weerakoon 4 for 36).


Bloomfield 270; CCC 88/4

Half centuries from openers Dilshan Munaweera and Nadeera Nawala guided Bloomfield to 270 in their first innings on the opening day of their SLC Premier League Tier 'A' cricket tournament match against the CCC which began at Welisara yesterday.

Bloomfield: 270 (D. Munaweera 61, N. Nawala 73, S. Jayantha 31, C. Silva 35, C. de Silva 32, S. Pathirana 6 for 78).

CCC: 88 for 4 (A. Berenger 35, D. Gunatilleke 38).


Ashan guides Lankan CC

Opener Ashen Silva hit an elegant 95 to lift Lankan CC to 266 runs in their first innings on the second day of their SLC Premier League Tier 'A' cricket tournament match against Tamil Union which continued at the P. Saravanamuttu Stadium yesterday.

Lankan CC: 266 (A. Silva 95, C. Wijesinghe 38, H. Fernando 21, R. Laksiri 42, R. Weerasinghe 21, M. Surappulige 21 n.o, C. Welagedera 4 for 42).

Tamil Union: 187 for 6 (D. Rajakaruna 39, G. de Silva 56, S. Serasinghe 35 n.o, R. Weerasinghe 2 for 40).


Devans win 29/5

Despite a second half fight by the losers Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala scored an easy 29 points (2 goals, 2 tries) to 5 (1 try) win over Pilliyandala Central College in their schools under-19 rugby tournament match played at Kurunegala yesterday.

At half time Devans 24-0.

After being comfortably placed in the first half the Devans could score only 5 m ore points after the short blast an their opponents too scored 5 points.
