CID busts credit card racket
Four men who were allegedly involved in a
massive credit card racket along with employees of several petrol
filling stations were taken in for questioning by Criminal
Investigation Department sleuths last week, Police Media Spokesman
SP Prishantha Jayakody told the Sunday Observer yesterday.

Land dispute and love affair lead to killing of two women
It was a protracted struggle between two closely
related farming families in Galnewa in the Anuradhapura district
over a paddy land that led to the killing of a woman and grievously
injuring her husband last week. The dispute centred around a two and
a half acre paddy land located in the same village.
