Grama Niladhari vacancies to be filled shortly

Measures are under way to fill the vacancies for Grama Niladharis in the country, Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister W.D.J. Seneviratne said.According to Minister Seneviratne, there are 2,500 vacancies for Grama Niladharis in the country including in the Northern Province.

It has been decided to hold the competitive examination to appoint new Grama Niladharis countrywide in August, the Minister said.As this examination had not been held since 2009, retired Grama Niladharis were reappointed to fill the vacancies for the position in certain areas. This caused various problems in operation, the Minister pointed out.
