Nayaka Thera, Viharadhipathi of Sri Somawardhanaramaya,
Ihala Biyanwila, Kadawatha was conferred the title, Mangala
Dharmakeerthi Sri Pemananda and appointed Deputy Chief
Sanghanayake of Siyane-Aluthkuru Koralas by the Karaka Maha
Sangha Sabha of the Malwatu Chapter, Kandy.
Here Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne presents the Sannaspatra
to the Nayaka Thera. Most Ven. Niyangoda Vijithasiri Thera,
Anunayake of the Malwatte Chapter and Deputy Ministers
Lasantha Alagiyawanna and Sarana Gunawardene also
participated.
A house worth over Rs. 1.5 million was
presented to a needy family in Villorawatta, Moratuwa under
the Janasevana Kepakaru Nivasa program launched by
Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common
Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa.The objective of this
program is to donate houses to the needy who lack the
resources to put up a house. Minister Weerawansa is seen

The General Convocation 2011 of
Aquinas University
College was held recently under the patronage of its
Chancellor, Archbishop of Colombo, Malcolm Cardinal
Ranjith at the College. BSc. degrees in Psychology and
Counselling were awarded. Degree programs for Arts,Religious
Studies and Psychology and Counselling are conducted at
Aquinas. A graduate receives her degree certificate from Dr.
Placidus De Silva, Rector, Aquinas University College.
