COPE Report on 249 State bodies to be presented

The Parliament COPE Committee has investigated 249 State ventures under its purview for the first time and the COPE report will be presented to Parliament during the next Budget debate, said Senior Minister, Chairman, COPE Committee D.E.W Gunasekera.

The earlier COPE Committee investigated less than 20 State ventures, he said.

The Senior Minister said that State institutions such as Moratuwa University was commended for excellent management, financial discipline and advanced academic activities. Inefficient and unsuccessful institutions will also be exposed in our report, he said.

He said that one of the main reasons for the failure of State institutions was the appointment of unqualified and inefficient persons to head those institutions.
