Hambantota sports city project to continue

BASSETERRE: St. Kitts and Nevis. Nov. 12. – Sri Lanka, despite losing its 2018 Commonwealth Games bid to Australia’s Gold Coast City, would go ahead with its new sports city project in Hambantota. Hambantota District Parliamentarian, Namal Rajapaksa said that the original plan to construct a new sports city near the international cricket stadium in Suriyawewa would continue as planned.

Bid to popularise American football in Sri Lanka

American Football an extremely popular sport in the United States of America is set to take root in Sri Lanka with a launch to popularise the game being held at the Cinnamon Grand Lakeside Hotel on Friday. The game which is already popular in South Asia via the efforts of the EFLI ( Elite Football League In India) with countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka being the latest addition to take up the sport in a big way.

CRICKET: DUBAI, Nov 12 (AFP) - Leg-spinner Shahid Afridi capped an excellent return to international cricket with three wickets as Pakistan thumped Sri Lanka by eight wickets in the first day-night match here on Friday.
