A simplified version
of the 550 Jataka Stories edited by Sinhala and Sanskrit
scholar, Siri Thilakasiri was presented to Prime Minister
D.M. Jayaratne at his official residence recently. Godage
Publishers Ltd. Proprietor S. Godage, Mrs. Godage and writer
Soma Jayakody were also present.
A special screening
of the film Matha the humanitarian operation launched by the
valiant Security Forces was held at the National Film
Corporation under the patronage of Defence Secretary
Gotabaya Rajapaksa recently. Here the Defence Secretary is
in conversation with the film’s Coproducer Ruwan Jayasinghe.

District Parliamentarian and SLFP Organiser for Colombo
district K.B. Lilantha Perera was conferred the title,
Deshabandu Samajaseva Vibhushana to mark the 65th
anniversary of the United Nations and World Peace Day at a
ceremony at the BMICH. It was organised by the National

United Nations was among those honoured at the annual
Artemis Awards Ceremony at the Rayburn House, Congress
Building, Washington DC. The Euro American Women’s Council
acknowledges women and men leaders from around the globe for
their achievements. The awards pay tribute to individuals
from the fields of business, politics, medicine, sports,
academia, diplomacy, science, arts and culture. Dr; Kohona
